Future of DVD
DVD was originally said to stand for digital video disc, and later for digital versatile disc. DVDs can be single- or double-sided. There are a number of recordable DVD formats, including DVD-R for General, DVD-R for Authoring, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD+R.

One main conventions of DVDs would be the features of a DVD-video. The features & functions are
- Over 2 hours of high-quality digital video.
- Support for widescreen movies on standard or widescreen TVs (4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios).
- Menus and simple interactive features (for behind the scenes etc)
- Multilingual identifying text for title name, album name, song name, cast, crew, etc.
- Instant rewind and fast forward, including search to title, chapter, track, and timecode.
- Durability
- Language choice (for automatic selection of video scenes, audio tracks, subtitle tracks, and menus) which must be supported by additional content on the disc.
Another convention is Copyright protection warnings, Copyright protection on DVDs are when region codes come into place. Most DVD video discs may be encoded with a region code restricting a particular area in the world in which the DVD can be played. If a disc doesn't have a region code they are called region 0 discs.
Moving images in a DVD are often repeated at the main menu showing the audience mini clips from the movie they're about to watch, exciting them of what to expect. Before the main menu appears, there are different types of moving images mentioning about illegal pirating, stealing footage and trailers of movies with the same genre as the movie about to be watched or something linked to the target audience age for example, in a horror movie DVD, the trailer would have more horror or crime movie trailers than a Comedy DVD.
When things like Blu-Ray (which has more storage & the quality of the images are better) are now in presence, people hardly buy DVDs.
Streaming is another main thing, Netflix, Love film & 1 channel have taken over with DVDs. Netflix & Lovefilm are like a DVD rental and Internet based company which allows users to watch movies and tv shows online or streaming right off their game consoles for just 4.99/5.99 pounds per month.
1Channel is a website only that shows movies for free online just like Youtube. People also download movies off of the internet free of charge or they purchase it and move it into a hardrive.

The downfall of DVD purchases are of all the store closures such as HMV, and blockbusters happening. People aren't buying as much DVDs as before back when we didn't have the option of online viewing of movies, when we had no choice but to go to the stores and by DVDS so they aren't selling rapidly as usual.
I think it's safe to say that the Internet has officially taken over.
You do get the odd one or two people like myself who still do buy DVDs. Some people like to physically own them, which is always easier knowing you have the DVD than to be searching for ages for a HD quality online or having a boxset of a TV sitcom. DVDs aren't like the online viewings because DVDs have extra stuff included in them, you get the special features, the behind the scene, all of the bonuses. They're also easily distributed and portable.
Do I think DVDs have a future? I'm not too sure because majority of the older generation are not familiar with all the new gadgets/online streaming stuff all out now so they still need the stores that sell DVDs to be available because that's what they prefer to do; buy DVDs.

Final photography evaluation
Photography evaluation
The magazine I chose was Wanderlust Magazine ; a travel magazine.
Seeing as I was going to Dubai for a little holiday I decided to do my final photography project on Dubai.
I had no worries and didn't have to rely on anybody during this task because it was an individual task so everything was planned out and timing was perfect.
I decided to take shots of different parts of Dubai, my surroundings & transport in the city to show the viewers of Wanderlust magazine what really is in the country. I believe my decision of choosing Dubai was very different compared to my fellow classmates because I actually went abroad and took these shots the best I could. Different camera shots were used as you can see in these images giving it that professional look. I got close ups, mid shots & long shots of various things. I made sure I went to specific places eg. Dubai Marina, Dubai Mall, Emirates Mall etc. because they are the main tourist attractions in Dubai.
The feedback I got back from these photos were of people deciding that their next holiday would have to be Dubai or that they were amazed with how beautiful it looks, They were also very intrigued by them which I was very happy about. The only negative comments I got about my photos were of some angles used in the shots. What I could have done better was to have got more shots of various things and resorts in Dubai, and religious places there, like the mosque for instance.
